The Orphan Sponsorship Program has held a variety of events with the intent of both raising awareness about the program and collecting funds for sponsorship purposes. Past events include bottle drives, numerous bake sales held in the Mosques and Musallahs of Calgary, as well as a Fast-A-Thon, and the Dollar-A-Day fundraiser held during the month of Ramadan. Our most recent event took place in conjunction with the Muslim Students Association’s (MSA) Islamic Awareness Week at the University of Calgary. Throughout the week an exemplary team of volunteer’s educated individuals about OSP’s mission, and its successes to date, while encouraging them to further the cause with their support.

Bowling Night!
Bring your family and friends to a fun event that includes free pizza and drinks! Come and join us for two hours of complete fun while supporting a great cause.An event that you will not want to miss!

Fast-A-Thon
In Ramadan 2007, non-Muslim students at the University of Calgary were encouraged by the MSA to join their Muslim peers in a day-long fast. In addition to the fundraising aspect through which money collected contributed to the OSP’s cause, the intention of the Fast-A-Thon was to create awareness about the Muslim experience during this month.
Dollar-A-Day
During the month of Ramadan 2007, brothers and sisters were asked to donate a dollar a day to the OSP, for a total of $30 each by the end of the month. The concept behind the fundraiser was that each individual would contribute enough to support one orphan for an entire month. Through this event, the OSP was able to raise a significant amount of funds with which to provide support to a number of orphans around the world.
